that looks like a GTA Vice City level that hasn’t been unlocked yet
January 5th, 2009 at 13:07:43
Looks like this is another waste of taxpayer money.

looks like photoshop
January 5th, 2009 at 13:23:33
its just a good camera angle, looks to me like it curves off to the right, but you just cant see the road.
January 5th, 2009 at 13:26:41
Its def photoshopped, you can see the shadow dows not extend to the road.
January 5th, 2009 at 13:29:44
Obvious photoshop.
January 5th, 2009 at 14:16:30
@chris The shadow doesn’t reach the road? Look on the left side of the road.
But yeah, this is either a work in progress (which I doubt because there’s not a sniff of equipment) or photoshopped.
January 5th, 2009 at 14:45:55
I was going to comment but guy beat me to it. It looks like the road goes to the right.
January 5th, 2009 at 15:20:51
Where is this place. If you can’t name the place then it is definitely a fake photo (photoshopped)
January 5th, 2009 at 16:10:10
i think its just a work in progress…except in bad economic times the area ran out of funding to complete the project..you can see tracks on the left where a backhoe may have been removed.
the road also looks relatively new..probably is another road on the other side and this would simply connect the 2 as a shortcut..but they dont want to put money in to a road which is not neccessary
January 5th, 2009 at 16:15:10
The road dips down, probably to a tunel but it is hard to see because of the angle of the shot. You will see similar view sometimes when driving towards an underpass in a road. From a distance it looks like the road over the underpass is level with the road you are on.
January 5th, 2009 at 17:03:31
C’mon people THINK ! Why would anyone paint the road markings on a road that goes to a dead end? No one that’s who. So it’s a fake.
January 5th, 2009 at 17:12:06
I don’t think there is a tunnel, or more road leading to the right/left. If that was the case then the wall would have to be much further back, and the trees in the distance seem pretty close.
It’s a fairly obvious Photoshop as a previous poster pointed out, I can tell by the pixels and the direction the shadows are facing, plus I’ve seen many ’shops in my time, I know what to look for.
January 5th, 2009 at 17:12:41
IT’S THE BATCAVE!
January 5th, 2009 at 17:21:29
Alfred is right, it must be the batcave it the only logical explanation. Come on people think about it
January 5th, 2009 at 17:23:42
Do you people not know about photoshop? it’s such poor quality too.
wow
January 5th, 2009 at 17:31:17
i think the road really goes left. then up. then up your butt DUPED. what a stupid name.
January 5th, 2009 at 17:37:58
Can’t they be in the process of building this road? Why is that not a theory?
January 5th, 2009 at 18:05:48
We have a similiar road in ireland they just build them at roundabouts in case the road is needed in the future for housing estates so that they can work further down the roundabout without cutting off the roundabout
January 5th, 2009 at 18:28:32
I can tell this is a shoop. I know thanks to some of the pixels and from shoopin’ quite a few whoops in my day.
January 5th, 2009 at 18:28:53
Photoshopped image.
January 5th, 2009 at 19:38:34
very clearly where the is going to be a tunnel, it just isn’t finished…
duh
January 5th, 2009 at 19:41:13
Scipio,
They don’t paint road markings (white lines) until the road is finished.
And as for the road dipping off into a tunnel, this would be the first non-reinforced tunnel I have ever seen. A tunnel carved straight into a hill of soft dirt? Sounds like a great plan, if you want it to collapse the first time it rains.
January 5th, 2009 at 22:23:48
why do u care if its photoshoped or not…
January 6th, 2009 at 01:07:36
“Its photoshooped, i can tell from the pixels”
…
The road quickly goes down (doesnt curve anywhere) and theres a tunnel, you just cant see it because the road goes downhill..
Just my tooo sense.
Either that or its ’shopped.
January 6th, 2009 at 01:07:46
my head has a program that can tell if things are shopped or not, and this definitely is
January 6th, 2009 at 01:08:28
There is a sign facing the dirt end, I think it curves to the right. It doesn’t really look photoshopped. I think it’s just the angle of the camera. Everyone screams photoshop at everything instead of actually thinking about other possibilities.
January 6th, 2009 at 01:20:20
The road turns right into a mini like canyon. I was pretty sure it was shopped but took the time to actually look at it. It’s one those optical illusions, if you will.
January 6th, 2009 at 03:37:32
there’s always the chance it’s a runaway truck ramp…
January 6th, 2009 at 03:56:37
It just a trick on angle, why would they even waste their time finishing and painting the road if it led into a hill?
January 6th, 2009 at 04:36:47
it curves to the right..
January 6th, 2009 at 06:30:49
Dammit! Who took this picture?
January 6th, 2009 at 06:40:07
I think it’s a soapbox race track, probably on a hill at a nearby park or something. The roadway is not very wide, and the white dotted lines suggest one way traffic. And looking at the signs the direction is downward.
January 6th, 2009 at 07:12:28
tada tada tada tada!!
BATMAAAAAAAN!!!
Kapok! Kaboom! pow! repow!!!
January 6th, 2009 at 18:25:23
i like turtles
January 6th, 2009 at 19:07:09
when it is unexplainable to the naked eye then it must be photoshop right? I hate stumbling upon blogs like this when half the ghey comments say its all shooped.
There is a particular road in Idaho that has a similar look. It is on the way to Challis. It seriously looks like you are going to run directly into the mountain and then all the sudden you curve right into a canyon.
It is probably not photoshopped but a good camera angle that doesn’t show the road going off to the right.
January 6th, 2009 at 19:23:16
Yep, only one possible explaination…it IS the batcave!
ta da na na ta da na na
BAAAAAAAAAATMAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

“Shopped” in that it was at some point edited with ACDSee Photo Software.
January 6th, 2009 at 22:50:47
my dick goes to the right
January 6th, 2009 at 23:08:39
okay everyone needs to calm down and take into consideration how amazingly fucking random this would be if it were real, so what if its shopped who are you to care…. i think its pretty fucking amazing and looks like a good place to hit the bong as well :DD
January 6th, 2009 at 23:09:09
We have one of these in south western NY. Route 219. And route I-990 outside of Buffalo. Expensive highways to nowhere.

“The road goes ever on out the door from where it began”
JRR Tolkien
January 6th, 2009 at 23:17:41
I’ve seen one of these somewhere during my trip from Cincinnati to Memphis…I don’t remember exactly where. It wasn’t quite as dramatic as this, but a road went right into the side of a hill and then under an overpass. This pic could be fake, but things like this do exist.
January 6th, 2009 at 23:26:33
LOOKS LIKE BAD PHOTOSHOP TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 7th, 2009 at 16:34:20
“Bad City planning 101″ yea,, doesnt look like its in a city to me

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER!!
January 8th, 2009 at 18:27:00
Lol. The Temple of Doom sucked worse than the new one. You fail now.
January 8th, 2009 at 19:51:40
I used to ride my ten-speed across the Golden Gate Bridge onto the Marin Headlands. It looks like the turn-off road that drops down into Sausalito (from a “90’s” memory)
January 9th, 2009 at 22:01:35
well if you actually LOOK you can tell the road dips down and then makes a sharp right… notice how the left wall of the canyon curves around…
January 9th, 2009 at 23:49:07
As a civil Engineer, I can tell you that this is definitely not a tunnel. There are no concrete supports or openings suggesting this would be a tunnel or overpass. The grade of the hill is not steep enough to demand tunneling through anyway; the engineer would have undoubtedly decided to just build the road over the hill or get rid of all the overburden by blasting. Also, this is not a road in progress because you don’t build roads by starting and finishing it one foot at a time. you would blast the whole hill, build the whole road, then stripe it, then open it etc. this is just bad photoshopping.
January 10th, 2009 at 23:13:04
I’m gonna have to say this is ’shopped.
And seriously, there’s no way it curves or goes down into a tunnel. That would be a ridiculous slope/turn.
January 10th, 2009 at 23:23:55
i took this picture. it is not photoshop for all of you idiots who are saying its obviously photoshopped. i can show you the actual picture on my camera if you want!!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 01:21:47
maybe there about to dig it out and make a tunnel
January 12th, 2009 at 01:26:24
The road goes to the right…if youu follow the 45degree angle from the right corner of the end of the road, entirely up the slope to the little verticle grey area then with your mouse just move horizontally to the right you will be able to see the grass on the right is just a shade darker then the grass on the hill beyond indicating it is in the foreground and the road definitely passes to the right between the two hills. Nice camera angle
January 12th, 2009 at 01:38:39
If this road was real, why is it paved already?
January 12th, 2009 at 01:57:28
Kellyg the road is real and probably in europe or somewhere that they drive on the left as the sign on the right of the road is facing away from the camera if you read my earlier comment you will see the seperation of the two hills and can visualize the roadgoing slightly down and to the right around the hill in the foreground.
January 15th, 2009 at 21:16:32
The photo is not photoshopped! i can tell im in love with photoshop! It just curves to the right! haha great picture though! it would totally freak me out if i was driving! lol i like the batcave theory
January 15th, 2009 at 21:22:17
I worked in the Army Corp of Engineers from 1977 - 2008. I can tell all
of you photo shopped “xperts” that you are dead wrong. This was my last project - and I was forced to retire at this point of construction. The photo is not “shopped” and had it been completed - the road would have gone down - and veered off to the LEFT where it would have ended in the parking lot of yet another Wal-Mart Super Store!
January 17th, 2009 at 03:43:26
Willie, if you do work for the corps. of Engineers and were involved with this, why are you admitting you had any part of this bad engineering? justus was right. you dont build a road by digging a few feet, then paving a few feet, then striping a few feet. you would dig it all out, then pave it all, then stripe it all. BTW, the photoshopper forgot to add the shadows of the small poles on the left side of the road. this is still a pretty cool/amusing pic though, even if it is shopped.

January 17th, 2009 at 23:09:54
alexis you have opened my eyes to a new life thankyou
January 18th, 2009 at 08:34:43
Hey Juice,When you get released from the Nevada Dept.of Corrections take 1 civil engineering class and see a doctor about bi-polar disorder.
January 18th, 2009 at 08:50:23
hmmmm… for starters people who say photo shopped shouldnt even comment (its not worth it)
i would say it dips down and swerves to the right through a tunnel…. hmmm
January 19th, 2009 at 02:35:32
PHOTOSHOPPED
February 4th, 2009 at 07:32:07
To all you Photoshopped “experts” Not one of you gave an explicit, coherent explanation of why it was Photoshopped. Saying “The pixels are all wrong” Or “a bad Photoshop job” Doesn’t explain anything. I doubt that most of you even know what a Pixel is or the origin of the word.
I think it is Photoshopped too, but simply because it is so illogical to have a road dead-ended like this with no sign of construction but the road obviously finished. For one thing, it would not be possible to neatly pave the road right up to the dirt embankment. Having worked for a highway construction company, I know at least that much.
February 9th, 2009 at 16:41:58
The photo is real and not “shopped.” I know, because I have certainly seen a few photo shopped pictures in my day. How do I know it is real?
Well, in counting the mid-road white markers, there just happens to be 18 - and this is totally incorrect based on USC 321.8(a)(4) of the Federal Government’s Highway Construction Code of 1957. There are TWICE as many mid-road white markers as would be required by the Federal Government.
Therefore, this is a picture of an actual PRIVATE DRIVE leading to the take out window of a Wendy’s in Two Buns, Montana.

I weep for the future.
May 13th, 2010 at 20:41:14
The reflector pole at the end on the right seems to be off a bit. I really can’t explain why there would just be a random white dot on the side of the hill. It also seems like its cut in half compared to the rest. Maybe the photoshop-ie tried to cover it up. The dirt wouldn’t just be nicely laid there either. There would be dirt all over the road.
Still great photo i laughed whole heartedly
